ATM Safety Tips
If you have any questions, feel free to email us
At one time or another, we all use Automated Teller Machines (ATM) to retrieve cash
in our fast paced lives.  We all have to be watchful for those individuals who commit
crime and want to steal from honest, hard-working citizens in our community.

Please follow these safety tips to keep you safe when you are visiting an ATM:

  • Only use ATM machines in a well-lighted, open, high-traffic area during the day
    time hours

  • ATM machines that are inside of businesses such as 7-11, WaWa, and
supermarkets are much safer to use at night than the ATM located just inside
the door of a closed bank

  • Avoid ATM machines adjacent to obvious hiding places (alley ways, bushes,
    trees, etc)

  • When you approach an ATM, scan the area first for loiterers.  If someone is just
hanging out there, use another machine

  • Have your card ready and leave the area quickly.  DO NOT COUNT your money
    in public

  • Walk or drive away immediately if your instincts tell you to do so

  • When using the machine, check the card slot to see if it was tampered with or if
there is some device in or near the slot.  If so, do not use the machine and report
    it to the police

  • If confronted by a robber, do not argue or resist.  Your life can depend on it!
    Give up the cash!!

  • Do not attempt to follow the robber.  Get a good description of the robber so you
can give it to the police

  • Drive to a safe place and immediately call the police
